Research Abstract

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics (CFRTP) is anticipated to be used for automotive parts due to their recyclability, ease of production and resistance to impact. Although composite materials have the advantage that the complex structure can be integrated when being molded, a lot of joints exist for automotive parts and welding techniques should be investigated. In this study, a new welding method using direct resistance heating of carbon fibers is developed.
