Research Abstract |
Lightweight fuel tank to be used as next generation transport equipment is required long time durability and high intensity. When discharged from liquefied gas tank of liquefied gas, damage occurred to tanks material by cavitation. This study is intended to damage process of the tanks material caused by cavitation in tank. Glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) are considered as the tanks materials. R-134a used as pressure-liquefied gas at 273 K was boiled by instantaneous depressurization. Specimens of GFRP were immersed in the cyclic condition. Laser microscope measurements for the surface of GFRP specimens reveal complex change in the depth of vacancies with cyclic cavitation condition. Interlaminar shear strength of each GFRP specimen obtained from short beam three point bending tests in accordance with JIS K 7057:2006 is also affected by the cyclic condition.
