高密度・高配向性単層カーボンナノチューブの複合材料化と特性評価

Research Abstract

単層カーボンナノチューブ(single-walled carbon nanotube,SWNT)の合成技術およびポリマー等との複合材料化技術の検討およびそれらの分析・解析を行った.
合成技術においては,水平配向SWNTの配向密度に着目し,合成条件との比較・検討を行った.低圧力条件下での合成において,その成長速度が減少する一方,密度が向上することが分かった.低圧力の場合,個々のSWNTが独立して成長していくことでお互いの配向を妨げることなく高い配向性が得られたのだと考えられる.
水平配向SWNTをチャネルとして用いた電界効果型トランジスタにおいて,ポリマーコーティングされたSWNTに対してジュール加熱を行った際のSWNTの温度上昇や温度分布がコーティングが無い場合と異なることを見いだした.これを応用して,ジュール加熱による広範囲のSWNT酸化除去法を開発し,金属SWNTのみを選択的に除去することに成功した.これは,高性能なSWNTトランジスタ作製につながる重要な結果であり,実際に,この技術を適応することで,高いOn/Off比を有するトランジスタの作製に成功した.
また,ポリマーコーティング時のSWNTを走査型電子顕微鏡,ラマン散乱分光法や原子間力顕微鏡により詳細に分析を行うことで,ポリマーとSWNTとの相互作用を明らかにした.特に,レーザーを走査させ行うラマンイメージング分光法により,個々のSWNTの分析を行うことができた.
