Research Abstract |
It was revealed that Hif-1αis a crucial mediator of angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced vascular remodeling, using mice lacking theHif-1α gene in smooth muscle cells (SMKO mice). 1, Chronic Ang II infusion induced medial thickness and vascular fibrosis in aortae of control mice, but not in SMKO mice. 2, The expression of genes related to fibrosis and inflammation was induced by Ang II in control mice, but not in SMKO mice.
