Research Abstract |
To investigate roles of Dullard, a BMP/TGF-s signal inhibitor, in cartilage formation, limb- and sternum-specific Dullard knockout (Dullard cKO) mice were generated. Dullard cKO mice showed impairment in ossification. Dullard-deficient chondrocytes showed normal BMP signaling but elevated TGF-s signaling. These results suggest that Dullard regulates endochondral bone formation via suppressing TGF-s signaling.
