Research Abstract |
We suggest p21 maintains matrix synthesis by regulation of aggrecan and MMP-13 expression in cartilage tissue. The main function of p21 in cartilage tissue could be the regulator of transcriptional factor rather than the inhibitor of cell cycle progression. Our data imply that stabilization of p21 would be useful as a therapeutic strategy for OA treatment.
