Research Abstract |
Sevoflurane in combination with propofol resulted in significantly greater numbers of apoptotic neurons than svoflurane alone in both the hippocampal CA1 region and retrosplenial cortex of the neonatal mice. However, there was no significant difference in apoptotic neuron density in both the regions between the groups treated with sevoflurane alone and in combination with thiopental. There is the possibility that the combination of sevoflurane and propofol is more harmful anesthetic technique than sevoflulane alone in pediatric patients. This result is now in submission. In addition, we were successful in multi-photon calcium imaging in the neonatal mouse cortex.
