Research Abstract |
In septic shock patients, enterocyte damage assessed by intestinal fatty acid-binding protein (I-FABP) is frequent. Plasma I-FABP concentration at admission to the ICU is significantly associated with APACHE II score, lactate, ischemic change of tongue and abdominal complication. Further study is needed to determine whether plasma I-FABP concentration is associated with mortality.
