Research Abstract

We demonstrated that intracerebroventricular (icv) injection of HMGB1(High mobility group box 1) reduced awakening period, and increased the non-rapid eye movement episode time.We also demonstrated that icv injection of melanin-concentrating hormone(MCH) increased hippocampal acetylcholine release in both HMGB1 (pre-treatment) group and normal saline(pre-treatment) group. Icv injection of HMGB1 did not reduce the hippocampus acetylcholine release, and had no effect on hippocampal acetylcholine release after icv injection of MCH.
