Research Abstract |
Alumina, which is known as a bioinert material, was hydrothermally treatedwith calcium chloride aqueous solution. After the treatment, calcium bindingwas detected on the surface of alumina. It was indicated that calcium-modified alumina had high possibility to show osteocosnductivity in bone defect based on the results of in vitro test using a simulated body fluid, cell and animal study.
