| Research Abstract |
In this project, I examined specimens of modern Norse literature, namely Swedish author Selma Lagerlof Marbacka's (1920) and Danish author Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid(1837). I critically analyzed the representations of “lameness” in the two works, and explored their place in not only modern Nordic literary history but also European cultural history.
