Research Abstract

In characterizing MKL1 transcripts expressed in rat brain, we have identified a novel transcript in addition to the other two transcripts. Functional comparison of these isoforms with regard to their ability to localize to the nucleus, drive SRE-mediated transcription and dendritic morphology revealed that one of the MKL1 isoforms is more active than the others in all these assays.
