Summary of the Research Project

グアニン四重鎖によって生じる神経細胞生理機能維持に関わる近年の発見に基づいて撚られた研究である。グアニン四重鎖を中核構造とする相分離に関連した現象研究を軸として、記憶痕跡の分子実態と、プリオノイド形成の分子機構解明が提案されている。

Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements

特定のRNAによって発生する相分離という物理化学現象が、神経機能に直接かかわることを示そうとしており、生物学的にも物理化学的にも学術的意義が高い。また、研究課題の遂行に伴う経口投与可能な創薬に関する開発は、社会に大きく貢献する可能性がある。
