Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In this fiscal year, the role of the Efimov attraction in strongly interacting polarons was investigated by: - treating the problem of 2 + 1 particles. The lifetime of three-body resonances in such systems was calculated numerically, revealing that specific mass ratios between the particles make the resonances long lived. These results were published in Few-Body Systems. - analysing the quantum defect theory of two-body Feshbach resonances enabling the realisation of Efimov states. An important parameter was identified and proposed to be measured experimentally. A manuscript has been submitted. - treating the problem of Efimov states with dipole interactions. The three-body parameter of these states was predicted analytically and numerically. A manuscript has been submitted.

Reason
The study of Efimov physics has progressed significantly, but the treatment of polarons as originally intended by the truncated basis method has not been fully implemented yet.

In the next fiscal year, the use of the truncated basis method will be fully implemented to further investigate the polaronic aspect of the physics.

Causes of Carryover |
The incurring amount will be used together with next year's budget for the equipment purchase that could not be realised as planned in FY2023 due to travel expenses higher than originally estimated.
