| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The researcher conducted additional interviews with local tourism stakeholders and visitors. Motivations, opportunities and unique challenges were identified with interviews from Japanese tourism stakeholders. Muslim tourists also depicted interesting characteristics, demonstrating how they negotiate and adapt their Islamic guidelines to non-Muslim destinations.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Research going as planned. In the second year, the researcher planned to carry out data collection. Priliminary literature review, field observations and interviews were made. More data collection will be conducted to ensure data saturdation. Priliminary findings have been shared at international conferences and feedback was received to improved research.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The researcher will continue with additional interviews with local business stakeholder and visitors. This is to ensure data saturation is achieved. Additionally, the researcher will continue to make field observations based on other Muslim-friendly destinations. At the same time, the research will draft articles to be published in academic journals.
