Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the first year of the project, several significant results regarding novel error-control solutions for optical aerospace integrated networks have been achieved.
Notably, the project introduced novel physical-layer solutions, including hybrid optical/sub-Terahertz schemes and machine learning (ML)-aided adaptive rate/power control. These solutions offer considerable enhancements in throughput and energy efficiency compared to the state-of-the-art. Additionally, new link-layer solutions for multiple wireless users, taking resource constraints into account, were also developed.
The research results have been disseminated in three (3) IEEE/IEICE journals and five (5) IEEE/IEICE international conferences. Furthermore, a work presented at an IEICE conference received the best poster award.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The progress of the project is rather smooth, which follows the original plan. This is indicated by significant results disseminated in major IEEE/IEICE journals and international conferences.
The smooth progress of the project is due to several factors. First, the PI (Dr. Hoang Le) has extensive experience, a solid background, and a robust achievement record in the research area of the project. Secondly, the thorough preparation for this research proposal is reflected in several publications in reputable forums. Finally, the high-level research quality of the team members ensures the feasibility of the project implementation.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
According to the original execution plan, in the second year, the project aims to comprehensively study novel link-layer error-control solutions, extending from the developments achieved in the first year. Moreover, the project also aims to investigate and optimize the upper-layer performance of optical aerospace integrated networks, considering the detailed impacts of the lower-layer designs (physical and link layers) from a cross-layer approach.
