Outline of Annual Research Achievements

カリウムイオン電池用電解液と炭素負極上の被膜構造の理解を念頭に,検討を行った.各種有機電解液と金属カリウムの反応性を調査し,その反応によって電解液中に溶出する成分を分析し,電池応用への基礎理解へ繋がる成果を上げた.また炭素負極としては,結晶性やナノ構造の異なる各種炭素材料を用いて,アルカリ金属のハーフセル中での電気化学測定に多角的に取り組んだ.新しい材料開発にも取り組み,中でもハードカーボンを鋳型法によって合成し,K吸蔵容量がカリウム黒鉛層間化合物の容量を凌駕すること,さらに電極反応の可逆性と不動態被膜の評価に取り組んだ.また,カリウムと同族元素である,リチウムやナトリウム,ルビジウムの電気化学挙動との比較から系統的理解と学理構築へ向けた取り組みへ発展させた.

Reason

当初予定していた溶液構造から,金属カリウムと電解液の反応性調査へ拡張して,電池特性を左右する副生成物を突き止めた.,さらに黒鉛への電気化学カリウムインターカレーションの容量を凌駕するハードカーボン材料を開発してその電気化学特性を調査してルビジウムの電気化学測定と比較し,炭素材料の検討から正極に適用可能な層状酸化物,可動イオンとしてカリウムから同族元素へと拡張研究へ発展したことから計画以上に進展したと考えている.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

これまでの成果を元に,Kに限定されないアルカリ金属イオンを含む電解液の溶液構造から,当該金属の電解析出反応さらに異なる炭素(黒鉛,難黒鉛化・易黒鉛化炭素等)の合剤電極での不動態機構を解明しつつ,電池応用の基礎となる反応可逆性と反応速度の評価を行い,それらを最大化しうる電極構造,溶液構造,およびそれら界面の構造を総合的に理解したい.そのために,電子顕微鏡やX線吸収分光,各種の表面分析を組み合わせながら,電気化学評価にフィードバックし,これらを統合して,リチウムを始めとするアルカリ金属を用いる蓄電サイエンスの理解に発展させたい.
