Outline of Annual Research Achievements

高精度Sr同位体分析手法の開発のために、まずはアパタイトの標準試料の選定を行った。候補となるアパタイト結晶に対し、主成分元素と希土類元素を中心とした微量元素の分析を実施し、均質性の検証をおこなった。主成分元素と希土類元素について一定の均質性を示した6種類のアパタイト結晶に対して、さらにストロンチウムの均質性の検証を進めている。ストロンチウムの含有量はアパタイトの産地により50~2000ppmと変化に富む。同重体干渉の影響はストロンチウムの含有量により異なると考えられることから、ストロンチウムの含有量と同重体干渉の相関を評価し、最適な分析条件や分析精度の検証をおこなった。また、新たにストロンチウムやフッ素、塩素などの元素濃度が既知である標準試料の調査とその一部を入手し、均質性ほかの確認をすすめている。
天然試料の解析に向けて、南極・ナピア岩体の試料中のアパタイトの観察をおこない、アパタイトとモナザイトの共生を確認した。共生する鉱物についてもストロンチウム同位体を含む地球化学データを得るために、岩石薄片から超音波ドリルを用いて直径2~3mm程度の試料を回収するための実験をすすめ、同位体分析をおこなうための試料回収方法をほぼ確立した。
一部のデータをJapan Geoscience Union Meeting 2021、The 12th Symposium on Polar Sciences、Goldschmidt Conference 2021などで発表した。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

実験室の設備工事等で計画通りに進捗しなかったため、研究計画の見直しが必要となった。ストロンチウム同位体に複雑な同重体干渉が存在することが明らかとなり,質量分解能などの分析条件の洗い出しに時間を要した.また,同重体干渉する複合イオン種には塩素イオンが含まれることから,塩素濃度既知の標準試料を準備する必要がでた.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

以下の3つの枠組みで研究を実施する。1)高精度Sr同位体分析手法の開発、2)天然火成岩・変成岩・堆積岩試料の同位体分析、3)結晶内部構造・結晶境界面の透過電子顕微鏡解析。
2年目となる令和4年度は、引き続き標準試料の選定とキャラクタリゼーションをすすめる。昨年度、実験室の設備工事等で計画通りに進捗しなかったため、あらためて、標準試料候補となるアパタイト結晶の均質性の評価、また同重体干渉の吟味・除去方法・補正方法の検討をおこなう。特に、アパタイト内に微量に含まれる硫黄や塩素に由来する複合イオン種による同重体干渉の影響を精査する。また、LiやBaといったこれまで注目していなかった元素が、標準試料の均質性に与える影響に注目し、広範囲の元素について高精度存在度分析を実施する。イオンマイクロプローブを用いてアパタイト中の同位体分析実験と基礎データの取得をおこなうとともに、顕微ラマン分光器を用いて結晶度の評価を行う。その上で、太古代から顕生代までの様々な時代の試料として、南極(ナピア岩体、レイナー岩体、リュツォ・ホルム岩体)、本邦飛騨変成帯・宇奈月変成帯の試料などを対象にアパタイト包有物とその基礎解析を実施する。超音波ドリルや偏光顕微鏡に設置したマイクロドリルを用いることにより、イオンマイクロプローブ分析の効率化を図る。平行して、ジルコンのU-Pb年代測定、Nd同位体分析、酸素同位体分析、包有されるアパタイトのSr同位体分析、Nd同位体分析などの解析準備と基礎実験をすすめる。また、必要に応じて透過電子顕微鏡(TEM)を用いてジルコンと包有されるアパタイトの構造と結晶状態の確認をおこなう。
