Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2023年度は、深層学習を用いた肝臓がんの診断支援に関する研究に焦点を絞り、以下の成果が得られました。
(1) ModalityFormerというTransformerを用いたマルチモーダルMRI/CT画像を用いた肝臓がんの再発予測手法を開発し、inter-modality間の相関性を抽出し、各modalityの重要性を自動的に解析し、重要なmodalityに大きな重みをつけることによって、State-of-the-Aat 精度を達成した。本成果は、IIEEJ Transactions on Image Electronics and Visual Computing誌に掲載された。
(2) 肝臓がんの診断にマルチフェーズCT画像をよく用いられるが、造影剤を患者に注射する必要があり、患者への負担が大きい。本研究では、非造影CTを用いて、生成AIモデルを用いて擬似造影CTを生成する技術(Organ-Aware GAN)を開発し、非造影CTを撮影するだけで、本当の造影CTを用いた場合とほぼ同じ診断精度を達した。患者への負担を軽減することができる。本成果の論文は国際学術誌Biomedical Physics & Engineering Expressに掲載された。
(3) 2023年6月に大会長として国際学会International Conference on Innovation in Medicine and Healthcareをイタリアのローマで主催した。その論文集を本としてSpringer社より出版した。また、2023年11月に国際学会Digital Medicine and Image Processingにて「Recent Advances in Deep Learning for Medical Image Analysis」というKeynote Talkを行った。

Reason

医用画像を用いて肝臓腫瘍のタイプ(悪性または良性など)を判別するだけではなく、術後早期再発するかどうかの予測法も開発した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

マルチフェーズCT, マルチモーダルMRI画像だけではなく、微細構造を観察できる病理画像を用いた肝臓がん診断支援とそれらを融合した診断支援法を開発していく。また、Foundationモデルを用いた肝臓がんの診断支援法も開発していく。
