Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は,昨年度末に納入した高温高圧反応透水試験器を立ち上げ,地震発生帯相当条件でのシリカ脈析出実験に成功した.具体的には,熱き裂を入れた直径約6 mm, 長さ約12 mmの花崗岩コアを反応透水試験器内に封入し,封圧100 MPaあるいは75 MPa,上流圧50 MPa,下流圧0 MPa(気相条件)あるいは8 MPa(液相条件), 温度200℃および300℃にて反応透水実験を行った.その結果,200℃ 下流液相条件では析出がほとんど無かったものの,下流気相条件では試料下流端面に析出が生じ浸透率の変化は無かった.一方,300℃下流気相条件では顕著な析出が生じ,浸透率が振動しながら2桁以上減少した.また,300℃下流気相条件下では,試料下流部に流路に垂直な方向にき裂が生じ,シリカで充填されたシリカ脈が形成された.これは,地震発生帯相当の封圧条件下で室内実験で形成された初めてのシリカ脈である.実験データよりシリカ脈形成により浸透率変動が起きていることが示唆され,地震発生帯におけるき裂閉塞と流体圧増加の時間スケールを制約する重要な実験データを得ることができた.
また,高圧変成岩である三波川変成帯では泥質片岩/玄武岩質片岩境界での詳細な地質調査,サンプリング,および地化学組成分析,鉱物組成分析をおこない,岩相境界が選択的な流路になっていることが明らかになってきた.岩相境界および各岩相内部における流体移動の時間スケールや流速などの水理学的な解析に必要な岩石学・地化学データを取得することができた.東南極セール・ロンダーネ山地の高温変成岩中の花崗岩質岩脈については,岩脈および派生する熱水脈のサイズ分布,含水量から岩脈貫入によるマグニチュードを解析し,岩脈の活動継続時間とマグニチュードが,火山下の深部低周波地震の継続時間やマグニチュードと一致することを示した.

Reason

高温高圧反応透水試験では,当初予定していた元素輸送を含む実験のほか,シリカ脈形成まで実現することができ,地殻透水性の変動に関する重要な実験的な知見が得られつつあり,当初の予定を超える進展があったため.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

来年度は高温高圧反応試験を400℃以上でも可能にするために,岩石のシール技術の開発に引き続き励む.400℃を超える高溶解度条件下での岩石の反応透水試験に挑戦する.また,自然界の岩石流体反応帯については,反応輸送モデルによる時間スケールや浸透率の推定,応力場解析による応力および流体圧の空間的な分布の解明に取り組む.
