Outline of Annual Research Achievements

I aggregated fossil locality and identity information across all deposits of interest for my research project, have gathered morphometric data from many specimens, and am currently working on identifications and descriptions before biogeographic analysis. I have also revised and resubmitted three papers that were in review at journals, and published these papers, though they were not on this specific research project.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

Overall the project is going smoothly, as I am obtaining morphological data; however, I am a bit behind in the pace of data collection. This summer I will be collecting more data with multiple collaborators at different museums and fossil deposits around the world, and so will be back on track with respect to the project timeline.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

I will finish collecting data (most likely by the end of October), and while collecting data, will be simultaneously working on descriptions or redescriptions of fossil taxa that are as yet undescribed or have been erroneously classified, in collaboration with other experts. After data collection is complete, I will proceed with data analytics: comparing assemblage structures, tempo and mode of assemblage shifts, and environmental conditions that led to such alterations.

Causes of Carryover

I was delayed in my plans to visit various collaborators at museums, which is where most of my budget was meant to be spent. I have already used some of the budget in the F2024 fiscal year for travel to China visiting a museum collection and research collaborator, and I will be continuing to use up the budget for research travel in this fiscal year.
