Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research activities were mostly dominated by the training and monitoring activities in the BME laboratory. These included the radioisotope training programs, Cryogenic Research Canter Safety Training Program and Environment safety course as well. In the framework of the development of solid form of the geopolymer binders using the tropical soil, the characterization such as BET analysis and particle size measurement were performed for the laterite and clayey soils to optimize the mechanical activation synthesis condition. Chemical and mineralogical analysis are still ongoing.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The activities are still beginning through the characterization of the tropical soil samples. The start was shifted because after the elaboration of the experimental research plan, it was pointed out the needing of the training such as Environment, Health and Safety Program, Cryogenic research safety, and Radioisotope training programs. These allow me to fulfil the regulations of the University of Tokyo and foster my academic and scientific background.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
For the near future, the following activities will be conducted. Part one is the synthesis of the low-energy alkali activated earth-based materials, and the aims include synthesis of the alternative binder using the mechanical activation of soils. Activities in progress cover 1) chemical and mineralogical analysis of laterite and clayey soils, 2) mix-design of the alkali activated laterite and alkali activated clayey soils, 3) characterization, 4) data curation and analysis, and 5) writing of draft and preparation the paper presentations. Activities in prospects cover 1) designing the lightweight earth-based materials for functional applications, 2) mix-design of the low-energy lightweight materials based on tropical soils (preparation of porous matrix using H2O2 as foaming), 3) optimization of synthesis conditions, and 4) characterization of the produced materials, and 5) data curation and analysis, and preparation the paper presentations.

Causes of Carryover |
The start of experimental works was delayed because the University of Tokyo required the training such as Environment, Health and Safety Program, Cryogenic research safety, and Radioisotope training programs. These allow him to fulfil the regulations of the University of Tokyo and foster his academic and scientific background. But he can start to make experimental works from April and the grant will be used for experimental works. He will be also able to accelerate his work.
