| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本年度前半は，蝦夷層群において，追加の泥岩および凝灰岩試料の採集を実施した．さらに，蝦夷層群，久慈層群，御船層群および南海層群で採取した泥岩試料に対して，微化石の抽出，凝灰岩のジルコンのU-Pb年代測定と有機炭素の炭素同位体比分析を行った．
本年度後半は，これまでに得られた各地域の白亜系に対して，浮遊性有孔虫化石，放散虫化石，オスミウムおよび炭素同位体比層序，凝灰岩に含まれるジルコンのU-Pb放射年代，凝灰岩に含まれるアパタイト微量元素組成に基づき，詳細な層序・年代対比を行った．これら詳細な地層の年代対比に基づき，海洋無酸素事変 (OAE1a, 1b, 2）層準に対して，微化石群集，粘土鉱物組成，イライトの結晶化度，堆積物化学組成を基に古環境変動の詳細を明らかにした．その結果，海洋無酸素事変2の発生時には，次の3段階の変化が見出された．（１）大規模な火成活動の発生と同時に風化の促進．（２）表層生産性の増加と貧酸素水塊の発生．（３）風化の減退と溶存酸素濃度の上昇．（１）の発生のおよそ3万年後に（２）の段階が始まり，（２）の期間はおよそ30万年間継続し，その後（３）の段階が始まり，海洋無酸素事変が終息した．このように，白亜紀海洋無酸素事変の発生は，火成活動がトリガーとなり，数万年のタイムラグを経て発生することが明らかとなった．海洋における広域な無酸素水塊の発生には，風化の卓越による陸からの栄養塩の供給が重要な役割を果たしたと考えられる．
