Outline of Annual Research Achievements

高分子ブレンド中の相構造成長過程と成分鎖の絡み合いダイナミクスのカップリングの基礎的理解のために、ポリイソプレン (PI) を成分とするホモポリマーブレンド系、および、PI とポリ(t-ブチルスチレン) (PtBS) を成分とする相溶性異種ポリマーブレンド系の緩和過程を詳細に検討した。その結果、PI/PI ブレンド系については、絡み合い緩和に対してこれまで提唱されてきた単一管膨張機構では、ブレンド中の成分鎖の緩和時間が記述できないことを見いだした。この結果に対し、レプテーション運動が鎖全体の協同的運動であることに着目して、(1) 絡み合いを表現する管は鎖骨格の横方向 (直角方向) にある長さ a(t) にわたって膨脹・平衡化して応力レベルを決定する、(2) この膨脹管の中で、それより小さな直径 a*(t) を持って縦方向 (鎖骨格方向) に膨脹・平衡化した管が揺らいでいる、(3) 鎖は後者に沿ってレプテーションするので、その緩和時間は縦方向の管膨張の程度で決定させる、という複合管膨張機構を提唱した。さらに、束縛解放緩和時間のデータに基づいて a(t) および a*(t) を評価し、複合管膨張機構の妥当性を実証した。PI/PtBSブレンド系については、絡み合い剛性率が成分鎖の Kuhn セグメント数分率に基づく平均値となっていることを実験的に明らかにし、その分子論的意味についても考察を加えた。これらの新規な知見に基づき、現在、高分子ブレンド中の相構造成長過程に対する時間依存型 Ginzburg-Landau 理論の改良を試みている。
