| Research Abstract |
サブサハラ・アフリカにおいて時空間変動を考慮した養分動態モデルを構築するため、モデルの構築に必要なデータ（実測値）である時間変動する可給態養分量および空間変動する養分量（具体的には溶脱によって垂直に移動する養分量と侵食によって水平方向に移動する養分量）の測定を実施する。本年度は、ニジェール（国際半乾燥熱帯作物研究所西・中央アフリカ支所）、タンザニア（ソコイネ農業大学）、カメルーン（農業開発研究所）において予定通り圃場試験を継続もしくは新たに開始した。全ての調査地において、自動気象観測装置（AWS）により気温・地温・土壌水分量・降水量などのデータを取得するとともに、土壌有機炭素分解速度を推定する際に必要なパラメータの実測を開始しており、順調にデータが蓄積されている。特にニジェールにおいては、慣行の土地管理法（収穫後に作物残渣を畑から持ち出す）により、土壌微生物の量的変動（つまり時間変動する潜在的可給態養分量）が極めて低いことを明らかにし、その成果を公表した。また全調査地において、侵食（風食・水食）および溶脱に伴う養分移動量の測定を開始し、順調にデータを取得している。ニジェールでは、重窒素で標識した化学肥料および有機質肥料を用いた試験により、施肥の有無に関わらず溶脱に比べ侵食による養分移動量が極めて大きいことを明らかにし、その成果を公表した。カメルーンでは、休閑植生の違いにより土壌断面内の養分移動量が大きく異なることを明らかにし、その成果を公表した。
また、ニジェールおよびカメルーンでは社会・経済条件を考慮するため、基礎的な社会・経済学的調査を実施し、生業形態や民族間（農耕民、牧畜民）の関係などを明らかにした。
さらに、サブサハラ・アフリカにおける農業生態系の特徴を相対的かつ普遍的に評価するため、熱帯アジアの畑作地生態系においても海外調査を実施した。

当初の計画通り、本課題の遂行に必要な圃場試験が継続または開始され、順調に知見が蓄積されていることから、本課題は「おおむね順調に進展している」と言える。次年度以降もこれらの圃場試験を継続することで、養分動態モデルの構築に十分なデータを取得できると期待される。

本課題は「おおむね順調に進展している」ことから、特に研究計画を変更する必要はない。次年度も当初の計画通りに進める予定である。
