Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2015, we mainly focused on the relationship between international mergers and political & diplomatic risks, especially Japanese and Chinese mergers and their relationship with the disputes over the Senkaku islands and the Yasukuni Shrine visits by top officials. One of our main findings is that the Sino-Japanese relationship is politically cold but economically warm. Also, the island disputes seem to have a bigger impact than the shrine visits. We are still processing the data and stylized facts.
We organized several workshops: 1. On 2015/11/13, Workshop on: Trade & Offshoring in East Asia and Other Time Zones; 2. On 2015/12/17: Workshop on: Trade, Finance and Political Relations in East Asia; 3. On 2016/3/8: Workshop on: Trade, Wages and Political Relations in East Asia.
