Outline of Annual Research Achievements

プリズム材料で用いるAl2O3(0001)表面の清浄化について、再現性が問題であった。真空に導入する前に行う処理の改良を行うことで、再現性を向上させることが可能になった。LaAlO3(100)表面においても表面清浄化に成功した。原子操作におけるクラスタ作成においては、Pbトライマーを構成する3個のPb原子と位置交換したSiアドアトムの吸着位置とスイッチング機構の解明を、STM局所状態密度の実験と理論計算などで行なった。その結果、Pbトライマーを作製して、STMトンネル電子注入を行った場合、Pb2Si3クラスターが吸着位置を変えていることを、実験と理論計算の比較で明らかにした。また、2個のPb原子がSiアドアトムと交換して吸着していることも明らかにした。Pb2Si3クラスターのスイッチは、室温で5個のバイナリ―原子クラスターが位置交換することを発見した。
