Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We aimed to propose and demonstrate a microring-loaded Mach-Zehnder (MRR-MZ) 2 x 2 optical path switch with a potential-tailored quantum well structure for low power consumption and multi-wavelength path switching. We investigate the relation between various device parameters and switching characteristics, and proposed the method to design this device. We also fabricated the designed devices using photolithography and dry etching. Although designed operation has not been obtained yet, we almost established the fabrication process optimized for the proposed device. In addition, a device with similar structures using silicon wire waveguides were designed and fabricated. Low-voltage operation and multi-wavelength path switching were successfully demonstrated.
