Outline of Annual Research Achievements

複数の小型衛星を用いてELF/VLF帯の電磁波（プラズマ波）を同時多点計測することで、宇宙プラズマ環境のグローバルな空間構造やダイナミクスを解明する技術を開発するために、衛星搭載用電磁波受信機の小型・高性能化、得られたデータから波動の到来方向や伝搬通路上の媒質情報を得るための研究を実施した。最終年度は、下記の項目について重点的に検討し、それぞれ良好な成果を得た。
１　小型衛星による波動観測を実現するには、電磁波受信器の小型化・高性能化が不可欠である。そこで、従来はCPU上のソフトウェアで行っていた波動信号処理と地上伝送用データ生成部を、プログラマブル論理素子（FPGA）上に実装し、高速処理と小型化を実現した。最終年度は、本研究課題で製作した専用FPGAボードに、リアルタイムFFTとスペクトルマトリクス生成モジュールを実装し、動作検証・評価を行った。スペクトルマトリクスは、波動の到来方向推定に必須のパラメータで、本取組みによりFPGAでスペクトルマトリクスが実観測時間内で生成可能であることを実証した。
２　波動分布関数法は、スペクトルマトリクスを用いて、複数の波動が同時到来する場合でも、個々の波動の到来方向を推定できる解法である。我々は昨年度までに、ノイズに頑健で到来波源の広がりや波源数が推定可能な改良型の求解法を考案済みであるが、実機で利用するには、機上で生成するスペクトルマトリクスが十分な測定精度を持っているかを評価する必要があった。今年度はこの問題について検討を行い、推定解の確率分布から統計量を計算し、それを解の妥当性の客観的な判断指標に用いる方法を考案した。
３　あけぼの衛星やVan Allen Probes衛星など既存の科学衛星で測定したELF/VLF帯の雷起源ホイスラ波の伝搬特性を利用し、プラズマ圏内の種々のイオン組成の空間分布や時間変動を推定する方法を考案した。
