Outline of Final Research Achievements |
As the new heat resistant materials, Co-Al based oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloy was developed through alloy design in terms of thermodynamic analysis software, mechanical test and oxidation test at 1000 °C. Co-20Cr-10Al (wt%) has dual phases, consisting of the same volume fraction in hardened B2 phase and Co solid solution. Nano-oxide particles like Y2Hf2O7, Y2Hf7O17, Al2O3 are dispersed more densely inside Al-enriched B2 phase. High-temperature strength at 1000 °C could be affected by the grain boundary deformation due to fine grains less than 1 μm in size. Accelerated α-Al2O2 scale formation leads to excellent oxidation resistance under air condition at 1000 °C.
