Outline of Final Research Achievements |
An ink-jet olfactory display, which provides pulse emission of scents, enables dynamic scent presentation whereas conventional methods could give only static olfactory stimuli. The purpose of this research is to develop an effective scent presentation method by measuring physiological and psychological effects on human beings. We found that a pair-wise comparison of two scent pulses is useful to measure human adaptation to olfactory stimulus and the results indicate that the pulse ejection method reduced the adaptation and enabled human to feel smell continuously.
