Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research project attempted to reconsider Nishida's later philosophy and Tanabe's middle philosophy by paying attention to the problems they shared with their contemporary French and German philosophical currents. Singular reception of Hegel, Heidegger and Marx characterizing France at that period and its encounter with Bergsonian philosophy and French sociological School was of special importance for us. Through exhausted research on this point, we could shed light upon philosophical potentials reserved in Philosophy of history of Nishida and Tanabe and Philosophy or religion they were trying to elaborate from that point of view.
