| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research aims to contribute to promote Verdi scholarship which has been undeveloped in Japan so far regardless of its importance, and to deepen the subject concerning “relationship between italianity and germanness in Verdi” by focusing on the reception of his operas in Germany. As it was especially indispensable to assimilate the advanced studies undertaken overseas, the main task was to go abroad to communicate with scholars and to undertake research at libraries. Results on the Verdi reception in Germany derived from gathered information and materials were made public at academic meetings and bulletins; moreover, they are expected to be published later.
