Political parties in modern democracies exist and struggle for power in different institutional settings of multilayered governments, such as municipalities, state governments, national governments, and a supranational government. This study presented a model of party organization in multi-level polities and examined consequences of mix of political institutions of multi-level polities over major political parties in a comparative perspective.
