Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study examined the effect of SART(Self-Active Relaxation Therapy) on mental health support for victims of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake. The disuse syndrome inventory and GHQ-12(The General Health Questionnaire-12)were administered to victims for 3 years in this disaster recovery support by SART, a psychological therapy.
Most of participants in this support were the aged, and the technique of SART is safe and easy to understand and realize an effect for the aged.
The results indicated that SART is highly effective for relaxation and improving motor function. Furthermore, in comparison between new participants and the repeaters, the repeaters’ mental health is better than new participants.
