Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Integrated reaction using isobenzofurans, 10π electron systems with various potentially attractive reactivities, was studied for the rapid construction of polycyclic aromatic compounds. Based on the new synthetic method of substituted isobenzofurans via sequential nucleophilic addition to 2-formylbenzoate with aryl Grignard reagents, iterative [4+2] cycloadditions of isobenzofuran and benzyne were developed, which enabled us to prepare functionalized polyacenes including a pentacene with electron withdrawing groups.
