太陽光エネルギー変換の高度化に向けたレーザー駆動MHD発電機の開発

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本課題「太陽光エネルギー変換の高度化に向けたレーザー駆動MHD発電機の開発」においては、次世代のクリーンエネルギー源としての太陽光エネルギーの高度利用を念頭に置いた[太陽光/太陽光励起レーザー/電気]エネルギー変換コンセプトを提言し、これを可能とする革新的なMHD発電機の開発を目的とした。特に、1.パルスレーザー誘起超高温プラズマの生成と特性解明、2.超高温パルス熱源に適合するMHD発電機の設計開発、3.パルスレーザー誘起超高温プラズマを熱源とした革新的レーザー駆動MHD発電の実証、を達成目標として掲げた。
その結果、A. レーザー生成プラズマの特性・挙動解明 および B. 衝撃波を伴う超高温熱源により駆動されるMHDプラズマ流の特性・挙動解明 において顕著な成果をあげるとことができた。
具体的成果:A. パルスレーザー誘起大気圧プラズマを対象とし、主にシミュレーション研究を行った。実験研究成果を鑑みたモデルにより、プロセスガスと湿潤空気の混在する実環境における極めて豊富な化学種の挙動およびその複合化学反応過程を明らかにした。ここでは、ミリからマイクロ秒スケールで変化するプラズマ挙動を数値計算的に把握できた。
具体的成果:B. 衝撃波管駆動装置を用い、衝撃波を伴う超音速・超高温プラズマ流とテスラ級磁界の電磁流体力学相互作用に注目したMHD発電実験研究を行った。プラズマ流体の熱流体的特性・電気的特性を明らかにした。また、これに対応する数値シミュレーションを行い、定性的な考察および実験研究との比較検討を行った。
