Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The present study examined the human remains from prehistoric archaeological sites in Kanto, Japan. The materials used here are the human remains from Amazaki sites in the Miura city, whose chronological age belonged to the Yayoi and Kofun periods. The morphological examination revealed that they are composed of cremated and non-cremated bones, whose minimum number of individuals is 33 and 19, respectively. This is the first evidence for showing the presence of cremated bones in the Kofun period.
