Outline of Final Research Achievements

All benefits from farm policies do not entirely accrue to farmers. Some would be transfered to landlords, while others would be to suppliers and some of them would be fixed as incidents to those. The purpose of the present research is to profoundly examine these relationships and calculate quantitatively.
This research was conducted under the collaborative projects with Barrett Kirwan, associate professor at the University of Illinois, whose innovative study clarified that 25% of direct payments in the U.S. may be brought about as incidents to land owners.
It is an outstanding academic contribution of this study that such ratio in Japan may tentatively be calculated to be 40%. Even so, it depends upon terms of contracts between farmers and land owners. Further studies will be needed in order to clarify real incidents.
