Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells produce both blood coagulation factor-VII (fVII) and tissue factor (TF). We clarified in the present study that under such circumstances, HCC cells do not elicit TF-fVIIa blood coagulation pathway because of ectopic tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI)-1 production. At least in HCC cells, there exist a mechanism to keep patency of tumor vessels, that could be a good target for novel anticancer therapy.
