Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The development of clinical indicators for evaluating the quality of care using patient discharge data of 5 million per year from acute care hospitals were performed. We have developed a index for evaluating the proper use of antimicrobial agents after surgery to reduce the induction of resistant bacteria and the incidence of postoperative infections. We showed that regional differences in the provision of reconstruction after breast cancer surgery is large, indicating that such visualization can lead to the provision of high quality medical to the public. Furthermore, it was shown that mortality of acute stroke patients treated in stroke care units was lower than general ward, implicating the effectiveness of such specialized treatment facilities. Analysis of the standardized hospital mortality ratio to evaluate the hospital overall outcome showed that the reduction in mortality and the improvement of medical quality, and the reduction of variation between medical institutions.
