Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Clinical manifestation of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) has clinical implications for patient management. Plasma matrix metalloproteinase 9 level in coronary circulation was significantly elevated in patients with STEMI than those with NSTEMI, while plasma myeloperoxidase level was similar between groups. The prevalance of plaque rupture by optical coherence tomography was similar between groups. Coronary MMP-9 level was the independent determinant of STEMI.
