Outline of Final Research Achievements

Although previous clinical study showed significant effect of trastuzumab for HER2 overexpressed advanced oesophago-gastric adenocarcinoma, the response rate was less than 50%. This study aimed to identify a predictive biomarker of trastuzumab resistance.
In our study, PTEN loss is relatively frequent in HER2 overexpressed gastric cancer patients. PTEN loss might be a potential biomarker to select the HER2 overexpressed oesophago-gastric cancer patients who are less sensitive to the trastuzumab-based chemotherapy.
