Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We confirmed the effective bactericidal activity and the low toxicity of titanium dioxide in surface modification (thin film) and solution (fine particles). The future clinical application is expected. This study established the session called "inorganic antibacterial materials" in the several medical societies and has been recognized as the strategy for prevention of implant related infection. By this research fund, we obtained 13 associated publication articles (four English articles) and 54 presentations at the meeting (four international societies) after 2012. We shift the point from "the prevention" to "the treatment" of infection and the further study is continued by inducing the photocatalytic reaction by a different method.
