Outline of Annual Research Achievements

この研究は、ゲノム情報や視細胞の形態・生理変化に基づく加齢黄斑変性の僚眼発症予測モデルの確立を目的として計画された研究である。
最終年度となった平成26年度は、計画に従って、他疾患での疾患予後予測モデルも大いに参考にしながら、加齢黄斑変性２眼目発症予測モデル作成をした。前年度までに完了した解析を踏まえ、最終的な予測モデルに用いる予測因子の選定を行い、各係数を決定した上で予測モデルを決定した。因子数（変数）が最大のモデルと最小のモデルでの予測精度の違いを検証し、可能な限り少ない因子数による精度の高いモデルを決定した。
3年間の研究期間全体を通しては、２眼目発症予測モデルに用いる予測因子の選定、一般的予測因子のデータ収集、ARMS遺伝子のA69S多型をはじめとした複数の関連遺伝子からなる遺伝子スコアの決定、補償光学を適用した走査レーザー検眼鏡の測定条件決定とデータ収集及び解析、眼球追尾型網膜電図の測定方法決定とデータ収集及び解析、これらの収集データの統合的な解析
を行い、最終的に加齢黄斑変性の両眼発症の時期や可能性の予測モデルとなる回帰式を作成した。患者本人の著しいQOL低下や社会への経済的コスト増大に繋がる加齢黄斑変性の両眼発症に対し、可能な限りの備えに繋げ得るだけでなく、効率的な受診タイミングの決定にも役立ち、逼迫する医療提供者な供給体制の整備も副次的効果としても期待できる成果が得られた。
