Outline of Final Research Achievements

We analyzed metabolomics of oral squamous cell carcinoma using HSC-2,HSC-4 cell lines cultivated under normoxia and hypoxia condition. In particular, glycolysis, amino sugars and pentose phosphate pathway were accelerated for both cell lines, but, under hypoxia condition, pentose phosphate pathway was accelerated. We found that hypoxia condition increased the motility and invasiveness of HSC-2, HSC-4 cells and that induced malignant transformation. These findings suggest that metabolic changes under hypoxia environment influence acquisition of malignancy.
