Research Abstract |
In this study, we applied Substrate Induced Gene EXpression (SIGEX) method to decipher unknown gene function of environmental microbes. We used drilled subseafloor sediment samples as DNA sources and established highly efficient SIGEX procedure. We could obtain many organo-halogen induced DNA fragments originating diverse microbial genome. Although there are several issue to be solved, this SIGEX approach can be useful technique to explore functions of unknown microbes in variety of environment.
