非線形誘電率顕微鏡を用いた原子双極子モーメントの可視化と原子種の同定

Research Abstract

研究目的達成のため,まず初年度は本研究目的に添った研究が遂行できるように原子分解能をもつ超高真空非線形誘電率顕微鏡の改造・性能アップを図った.具体的には以下のような項目の研究を行った.
①NC-SNDMは高次非線形誘電計測から原子の位置を検出し更に最低次非線形誘電計測で誘電分極(今回議論する領域では原子双極子モーメント)を計測するが,今回は特に一つの原子を特定して非線形誘電率信号を取得できるようにするためにこのため現有のアナログ式顕微鏡コントローラをデジタル化する改造を行った.この結果プローブティップをベクトルスキャンできるようにした.
②上記①で整備した,デジタル方式でプローブティップの位置を任意にコントロールできる超高分解能・走査型非線形誘電率顕微鏡に,計測中の画像のドリフトの抑制並びに単一原子の長時間観測のためのアトムトラッキング法技術を付加した.
③超高真空・高分解能・走査型非線形誘電率顕微鏡を用い,まずその性能評価のため,水素を付加したシリコン(111)面7x7構造を作製しその表面の観測を行った.その結果,最低次非線形誘電率信号及び高次非線形誘電率信号共にが水素の吸着点でのみ変化することを明らかにし,単一原子の原子双極子モーメントの変化を実験的に検証した.更に酸素吸着も行い一部ではあるが酸素吸着による非線形誘電率信号の変化も検出した.
④更に平均トンネル電流と双極子モーメント信号が関連あることを見出した.

Reason

Si(111)7X7構造に水素のみならず酸素も吸着しその吸着点での非線形誘電率信号の検出に成功した.更に平均トンネル電流と双極子モーメント信号が関連あることを見出した.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

静電容量計測で原子分解能が発現する詳細なメカニズムを明らかにする為の研究を行う.具体的には,古典的電磁気学では原子分解能が発現する事は既に証明されているが実際には古典論は破綻している領域の分解能を議論しているので,量子力学的観点から極微小な領域の静電容量を検討し,原子分解能が得られるメカニズムを明らかにすす計算に着手する.
次に非線形誘電率信号と同時計測できるトンネル電流の高調波成分を用いて表面の双極子モーメントが作る電位を評価し,それと非線形誘電率信号による双極モーメント像が一致することを明らかにする.
また水素とは電気陰性度の異なる物質をシリコン表面に吸着させ発生する双極子モーメントを観測し,電気陰性度と原子双極子モーメントの間の関係を明らかにする.
