Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To excavate rock masses, two major methods, blasting and mechanical excavation, were used. However, these two methods contain the problems to surrounding environment, such as oscillation. Other methods are expected to develop for applying on the severe site. To resolve this problem a new rock fracture technique using high voltage electricity has been investigated, but it has not been an effective method. In this study, a new concept to fracture rock masses by high voltage electricity was proposed, and its possibility was examined. The proposed method is that the conductive material is grouted into the rock mass and then is turned on electricity to fracture the rock mass. As a result, a new process to fabricate the key material, conductive ceramics, was found and the investigation of the proposed method stepped into the next step.
