Research Abstract |
Novel biomass adsorbents which exhibit high selectivity for cesium(I) were prepared from commercially available persimmon tannin extract, powdered green tea leaves and persimmon waste after extracting persimmon tannin as well as microalgal waste after extracting bio-diesel oil. All of these adsorbents exhibit high adsorption capacity for cesium(I) close to zeolite A, commercially available adsorbent for cesium(I). Further, also new adsorbent which exhibited high selectivity for strontium(II) was prepared from orange juice residue. New removal process consisting of strontium(II) removal followed by cesium(I) removal was proposed employing these new bio-adsorbents.
